MEET OUR TEAM

Each therapist is passionate about meeting clients where they are and creating a safe and non-judgmental space. We find the need for therapy because of wounds from our relationships and it is only in relationships we can heal. Our therapists aim to be relational enough to be therapeutic and boundaries enough to be professional. That is the tension and space in which we meet clients.

Elizabeth Schutz, MA LPC

I am a licensed professional counselor. I consider it a joy and privilege to collaborate with clients to help them overcome trauma and dysfunctional patterns which keep them from the full and rich life they were created for. By creating safety and space in the therapeutic relationship it can be the catalyst for self-discovery and healing for clients.

After starting my career in 2018 in private practice, I spent 4 years as the Director of Clinical Services at a residential program providing holistic and comprehensive care for survivors of trafficking and exploitation. During my time there, I developed an evidenced based approach to helping clients heal.

About me… I grew up in Southern California but Texas quickly became home. I believe being active is an important piece of my self care. I love running and curling up with a good book and my fur baby.

I utilize EMDR and Internal Family Systems theory to help clients move past dysfunctional beliefs and behaviors. It starts by creating a foundation of safety and stability, development of internal and external resources, changing the relationship you have with your past and integrating new ways of relating to self and others.

Raised in small town Iowa, my wanderlust has led me to explore our colorful world.

I believe in a holistic approach to therapy: integrating spirit, soul and body in the healing journey. I believe there is power in presence, of being with and bearing witness to my client’s story, creating a safe and non-judgmental space is healing and transformative.

I am a strong proponent of self-stewardship; you will find me chipping away at my personal goals at CrossFit, immersed in a fantasy fiction novel, or discovering new coffee shops.

Raised in Florida, Louisiana, and all across the DFW area, I had the opportunity to meet new people and encounter new cultures growing up. These experiences influenced who I am today and continue to shape my growing practice and approach to counseling.

I take a holistic approach, identifying and collaborating on how counseling can facilitate growth in all these areas—physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, occupational, and environmental—which is vital to creating a purposeful, sustainable life. I’ve seen the benefit of working and collaborating with others in these areas in developing resilience and relational strength. Discussing the interactions among these different areas can be extremely helpful in guiding healing efforts and finding hope.

I utilize narrative therapy and a “parts” informed lens to address dysfunctional beliefs and behaviors in working with individuals. These processes involve looking inward, developing a healthy relationship with one’s life story and events. I believe these are powerful tools to address dysfunctional beliefs that limit them from the life that they deserve.

When I’m outside the office, some of the things I put into practice are running, reading, playing music to maintain my well-being and express myself, and spending plenty of time with loved ones.

Areas of counseling interest would be spirituality, social anxiety, family of origin issues, healthy relationships with social media, and young adult issues.
